another animation final

Here's some more animation practice. This one was a bit more fun since I got to focus a lot more on communication without words. :)

Background sketches

For various projects. Some are scenes depicting hell, a futuristic cityscape, and a world beyond our own.

Storyboards

Here are a few older storyboards and production sketches for practice. The short sequence at the top is for a video game project. Below that is a Sandman sequence. A small group on campus wanted to make a short film depicting Neil Gaiman's Sandman, and his journey into hell, but it never really took off. I'm currently working on a new series of production sketches for the SOL Ignotus project, so I'll be happy to share a couple of those once they're done.

vector project

Here's a few more things I tried this last weekend. These images are just a test! I'm practicing to get a feel for the FarmVille style. I rather like the clean crisp and colorful approach.

More fun than expected

Today I tried some vector art. It's a bit of a drastic change from the norm. The hardest part was the massively different art mentality when it comes to vector art in comparison to the hands on approach that I've always been so accustomed to. But I'm liking it a lot so far. :)

Artwork was done with Illustrator CS5.

A nice warm wallpaper for my unbelievably square desktop.

A strange and creepy alien world. This has been vectored from one of my environment speed paintings.

In color

A colored update on the last post.

Very monochromatic. But that's just how I like it.

Drawn out

Choosing two silhouettes, I move forward in the design process. Orthogonal perspectives are a vital stepping stone during the transition to a complete 3D model.

Character Silhouettes

Whenever I feel blank and uninspired, I find that character silhouettes are usually the way to go. Fast, simple, and fun to work with. It's also a great way to establish character size and overall feel. :)

Character sketches

Here are a few character sketches of Aoa. You'll probably be seeing more of her soon. I love dreadlocks! :)

Backgrounds

A couple of sci-fi environments for practice.

Aoa Rotation

First experience with Zbrush. I really enjoyed the process of developing this character. Many changes have been made, and will probably continue until I establish the in-game character models.

Rough Aoa sketches

Aoa (pronounced Yo-ah) character design for an upcoming side scroll adventure title. I wanted to emphasize on the non human element in order to distance her from familiar grounds.
